Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Salvage Ablation for Radiation-Recurrent Localized Prostate Cancer – A Focal Therapy Society Project

N. Mertziotis, President of the Hellenic Association of Focal Therapy (ΕΕΕΘ) and member of its Scientific Board, co-authored an international systematic review and meta-analysis conducted under the Focal Therapy Society, on salvage ablation for patients with radiation-recurrent localized prostate cancer.

The study reviews the international literature on salvage ablation techniques (such as cryoablation, HIFU, irreversible electroporation, and TULSA) in patients with local disease recurrence after radiotherapy — a clinically challenging patient group, where focal approaches are studied as an alternative aimed at reducing morbidity compared with conventional salvage treatments.
